My air conditioner makes a loud knocking noise. My town home is only one year old. What can cause this problem? Do I need to call for service?

I recommend that you call for service ASAP. There is very little about air conditioning that is DIY, & when they start to show symptoms of breaking down, sooner is better than later. Plus, it may still be under warranty, so make sure you call someone who is approved by the manufacturer.
